Bodybuilding is much like any other sport. To be successful, you must dedicate yourself 100% to your training, diet and mental approach.
I have inhaled, exhaled everything.
For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.
It’s the most difficult [decision] I’ve made in my entire life, except the one I made in 1978 when I decided to get a bikini wax.
I just use my muscles as a conversation piece, like someone walking a cheetah down 42nd Street.
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.
I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with Guess on it. I said, Thyroid problem?
I know that if you leave dishes in the sink, they get sticky and hard to wash the next day.
In this country, it doesn’t make any difference where you were born. It doesn’t make any difference who your parents were. It doesn’t make any difference if, like me, you couldn’t even speak English until you were in your twenties.
I think that gay marriage should be between a man and a woman.
What we face may look insurmountable. But I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn’t think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know
I told Warren if he mentions Prop. 13 one more time, he has to do 500 push-ups.
Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body.
Good things don’t happen by coincidence. Every dream carries with it certain risks, especially the risk of failure. But I am not stopped by risks. Suppose a great person takes the risk and fails. Then the person must try again. You cannot fail forever. If you try ten times, you have a better chance of making it on the eleventh try than if you didn’t try at all.
If it’s hard to remember, it’ll be difficult to forget.
Not many people understand
what a pump is. It must be experienced to be understood. It is the greatest feeling that I get. I search for this pump because it means that that my muscles will grow when I get it. I get a pump when the blood is running into my muscles. They become really tight with blood. Like the skin is going to explode any minute. It’s like someone putting air in my muscles. It blows up. It feels fantastic.
It’s simple, if it jiggles, it’s fat.
I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn’t think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know.
Money doesn’t make you happy. I now have $50 million but I was just as happy when I had $48 million.
We all have great inner power. The power is self-faith. There’s really an attitude to winning. You have to see yourself winning before you win. And you have to be hungry. You have to want to conquer.
My friend James Cameron and I made three films together – True Lies, The Terminator and Terminator 2. Of course, that was during his early, low-budget, art-house period.
Pain makes me grow. growing is what i want. therefore for me, pain is pleasure. and so when i experience pain I’m in heaven. it’s great. people suggest this is masochistic. but they’re wrong. i like pain at a particular moment for a particular reason. i don’t like needles stuck in my arm. but i do like the pain that i necessary to be a champion.
You have to remember something: Everybody pities the weak. Jealousy you have to earn.
My own dreams fortunately came true in this great state. I became Mr. Universe; I became a successful businessman. And even though some people say I still speak with a slight accent, I have reached the top of the acting profession.
My instinct was to win, eliminate anyone who is in competition, destroy my enemy,
and move on without any kind of hesitation at all.
The resistance that you fight physically in the gym and the resistance that you fight in life can only build a strong character.
I‘ve made a profession out of a pastime, which perhaps only five percent of the population can do. The other ninety-five percent are frustrated office workers, working for someone else. I’m totally independent. So, I…..feel…if I would live again or if I would be born again, I would do exactly the same thing.
I can promise you that when I go to Sacramento, I will pump up Sacramento.
Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer.
I do squats until I fall over and pass out. So what? It’s not going to kill me. I wake up five minutes later and I’m OK. A lot of other athletes are afraid of this. So they don’t pass out. They don’t go on.
The better you get, the less you run around showing off as a muscle guy. You know, you wear regular shirts, loose shirts-not always trying to show what you have. You talk less about it. It’s like you have a little BMW-you want to race the hell out of this car, because you know it’s going 110. But if you see a guy in a Ferrari or Lamborghini, they slide around at 60 on the freeway because they know if they press on that accelerator they are going to go 170. These things are the same in every field.
[After being pelted with an egg at a political rally] This guy owes me bacon now … you can`t have egg without bacon.
It is as satisfying to me as coming is – you know, as having sex with a woman and coming. So can you believe how much I am in heaven? I am, like, getting the feeling of coming in the gym. I’m getting the feeling of coming at home. I’m getting the feeling of coming backstage when I pump up.When I pose out in front of 5.000 people I get the same feeling. So I’m coming day and night. great huh
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.
The best activities for your health are pumping and humping.
To those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say, Don’t be economic girlie men!
